CLP India has awarded 100 MW turnkey construction projects to Gamesa for wind farms in Madhya Pradesh and Chandigarh.
Gamesa will be responsible for setting up the infrastructure needed to operate the wind farm.
As per the deal, Gamesa will supply 50 new G97 2.0 MW turbines with extended hub height of 104m, modified according to Indian wind conditions.
With this new project, it is expected that CLP India's wind power portfolio will reach 1100 MW, spanning across six states, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh.
The Chandigarh project is expected to be commissioning in December 2015.
Earlier, Gamesa had commissioned 60 MW wind farm in Jath, Maharashtra for CLP India.
By adding this contract, Gamesa has so far attained 850 MW of wind project order from India through 2014.
Gamesa contributed 27 percent to the entire renewable energy mix of India, from January to September.
Last month, CLP, Hong Kong's biggest electricity provider revealed its plan to invest around 2 billion to boost the power production capacity in India by 2,000 MW at Paguthan (in Gujarat's Bharuch district) by investing about 2 billion.
The company entered the Indian power sector in 2002 with the acquisition of a 655 MW gas-fired power plant in Gujarat.
In 2013, CLP expanded its operations by adding about 1,000 MW capacity with an investment of Rs 6-6.5 crore in India.
CLP founded in 1901 as China Light and Power in Hong Kong was among the two significant overseas entrants in India's power generation sector.
