New Developments In Solar Powered Hydrogen Production
A mound of scientists from the Ecole Polytechnique in Lausanne has bare a new structure for producing hydrogen fuel from sunlight and water lacking using rare-earth metals. By combining photovoltaic cells, ended with a material called perovskite, with inexpensive electrodes, the scientists enclose obtained a details 12.3% conversion efficiency from solar energy to hydrogen. The plan obtained by the researchers has the jump of using perovskite absorbers, a pelt that can be obtained in the laboratory from standard reserves, eliminating the need for rare-earth metals in the production of hydrogen fuel. The electrodes are ended from iron and nickel catalysts, two reserves that are any bounteous and sensible, but with an equitably good sense respect to the more splendid platinum-based catalysts. In the same way as hydrogen has been twisted, it can be stored in bottles and used in different ways according to the requirements: it can be burned as a fuel to demob water vapour or it can be channelled by means of a "fuel cell "to generate electricity.
