Solar Power Network Partners With Nissan To Install Solar Power Atop Nissan Facility In Kyushu

April 23, 2014, Tokyo, JAPAN -Solar Power Network Japan K.K. (SPN), a distributed power generation company, and Nissan Motor Co.,Ltd. (Nissan) have announced a partnership to develop more than 2MW of rooftop solar power at the Nissan Kyushu Co.,Ltd. (Nissan Kyushu), one of Nissan's vehicle assembly plants in Fukuoka prefecture. SPN will design, build and operate the facility. The system will be grid connected with a contract under Japan's Feed In Tariff system and all the electricity it generates will be sold by this scheme. The facility is expected to generate power in early 2015. The solar power system will consist of 7,984 high efficiency solar panels, totalling 2.13 MW of local green generation capacity. The output of this system will be sufficient to power more than 610 typical Japanese households. By generating that power with solar, the release of more than 35,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions can be prevented.
