Solar Power Network Partners With Nissan To Install Solar Power Atop Nissan Facility In Kyushu

April 23, 2014, Tokyo, JAPAN -Solar Power Network Japan K.K. (SPN), a distributed power generation company, and Nissan Motor Co.,Ltd. (Nissan) have announced a partnership to develop more than 2MW of rooftop solar power at the Nissan Kyushu Co.,Ltd. (Nissan Kyushu), one of Nissan's vehicle assembly plants in Fukuoka prefecture. SPN will design, build and operate the facility. The system will be grid connected with a contract under Japan's Feed In Tariff system and all the electricity it generates will be sold by this scheme. The facility is expected to generate power in early 2015. The solar power system will consist of 7,984 high efficiency solar panels, totalling 2.13 MW of local green generation capacity. The output of this system will be sufficient to power more than 610 typical Japanese households. By generating that power with solar, the release of more than 35,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions can be prevented. "SPN is honoured by the opportunity to provide renewable power at Nissan Kyushu, one of Nissan group companies, a worldwide leader in zero emission mobility, and be able to contribute promoting renewable energy." said Mr. Peter Goodman, CEO and President of Solar Power Network.April 16th Press Event hosted by the CanadianEmbassy in TokyoRight to left: Yoshio Sugano, Representative Director,Solar Power Network; Yuji Kishi, Expert Leader,Engineering Director, Environment and EnergyEngineering Department, Vehicle ProductionEngineering Division, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.;Peter Goodman, President CEO, Solar Power Network Solar Power Network (SPN) is a privately held, employee
owned, rooftop solar power company with offices in Tokyo and Toronto. With its mission to hasten the smart grid future, SPN has in total almost 300 MW of clean generation, in various stages of development, distributed across more than 600 industrial, commercial, and municipal buildings. It has a track record built on over 3 million square meters of rooftops in development for solar power. By installing high yield low
angle solar panels on idle rooftops, SPN generates green energy on the buildings where it is needed, offsetting the need for the remotely generated power of nuclear and fossil fuels.
